About Me
My name is Chris Rea, a professional dog trainer and dog behaviourist with over a decade of experience working with dogs. Dog training and behaviour have always been my passion, and I currently work for a well-known animal rescue. Since 2018, I’ve been providing 1:1 dog behaviour consultations and dog training services at Stay Positive - Dog Behaviour and Training, helping owners strengthen their relationships with their dogs.
I’ve regularly appeared on the BAFTA-nominated, Royal Television Society award-winning Channel 4 show, where rescue dogs are matched with new owners. Over the years, I’ve worked with hundreds of dogs of all breeds and sizes, focusing on behavioural training, dog obedience, and positive reinforcement techniques to address common behaviour problems.
I’m a CAPBT-certified behaviourist and a proud member of the UK Dog Behaviour & Training Charter 2023 and an associate member of ICAN (International Companion Animal Network).
All of the dog training advice and behavioural solutions I offer are based on the latest scientific research, ensuring proven, effective results.
Qualifications
I hold a Level 4 qualification in companion animal behaviour through COAPE and am a registered CAPBT behaviourist (COAPE’s Association of Pet Behaviourists and Trainers). I achieved this qualification in 2016 after years of hands-on experience working with dogs.
Membership in CAPBT is granted solely based on qualification, meaning all members are certified to some of the highest standards in dog behaviour training in the UK.
As a CAPBT behaviourist, I use the unique EMRA™ (Emotion, Mood and Reinforcement Assessment) approach. This holistic method focuses on your pet’s emotions, effectively reducing problem behaviours while improving their overall wellbeing.
I am also an associate member of ICAN (International Companion Animal Network). For more information on these organisations, please visit their websites:

“We booked, Chris for a session 5 months after getting our puppy Jack Russell. His service was quite simply impeccable. Within 20 minutes he had already taught our pup to sit-down on command using treats and simple hand movements. As well as providing amazing advice and instructions for training he also gave industry leading knowledge and highly in-depth sophisticated ideas with regards to our dogs dietary needs that we had no idea was so important.
We ready couldn’t recommend, Chris enough, weather it be for training or even just simple advice to do with your dogs health and well-being.
We will 100% continue to use, Chris in the future and he will be our first point of call when we get the next Pup to join our family.”

“I used Chris for some help with my border collie puppy. I had several bad habits I wanted to kick before she got too into them. His help was amazing and the habits were kicked within a week!! He also helped me with a lot of training and sh e's so obedient now and I put that down purely to the fact of his help, he gave many tips and options to try as all dogs are different. Very friendly and overall outstanding experience.”
